CAFE

RESPONSIBILITIES: Pick up donuts from Cub Foods in Elk River on Sunday mornings after 7:30am. Deliver donuts to cafe at Gateway before 8:30am.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to drive. Be punctual.

TIME COMMITMENT: Pick up donuts every other week, taking approximately 30-45 minutes. There is a 6-month commitment, with an opportunity to continue.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Check cafe supplies weekly and restock as needed.
Purchase needed supplies and/or notify staff, depending on the item.

REQUIREMENTS: Need to be able to drive or have access transportation.
Need to be able to purchase supplies and submit receipts for reimbursement.

TIME COMMITMENT: Need to come in to church on Sunday mornings or during church hours to monitor the supplies.

Clean up Cafe and restock supplies at the end of the shift.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be friendly and enjoy meeting new people.
Need to be able to follow established routines.
Be punctual.

TIME COMMITMENT: Shifts are from 8am to 12:30pm on Sundays.
Serve 1 Sunday morning a month and an occasional open shift as needed. We ask that you commit to serve for 6 months with an opportunity to continue.

WHAT TO EXPECT: After you apply and your application has been reviewed, a staff member or ministry leader will reach out to you regarding next steps. Then, the Cafe leader will contact you for orientation to the role.

CARE

RESPONSIBILITIES: After the last song of the 9AM or 11AM service on Sunday mornings, walk to the front to pray with people. Pray out loud with those who need prayer. Show God’s love and grace to the people that request prayer.

REQUIREMENTS: Be a member of Gateway Church. Have a sincere desire to pray for people. Be able to pray out loud with those that need prayer after a Sunday service. Keep prayers confidential, unless otherwise requested.

TIME COMMITMENT: We ask that you commit to one Sunday service per month. Pray after the 9AM or the 11AM service for approximately 15 minutes.

WHAT TO EXPECT: After you apply and your application has been reviewed, a staff member or ministry leader will reach out to you regarding next steps.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Deliver pre-made meals from the Elk River dining site to elderly residents in the surrounding area. Return hot and cold containers back to the Elk River dining site after delivery.

REQUIREMENTS: Must have a valid driver’s license and be at least 18 years of age. Must fill out a consent form from Meals on Wheels. Need to have a working vehicle.

TIME COMMITMENT: Pick up the meals from the Elk River dining site at 10:30. The driving route takes approximately 1 hour. You may pick one or more days a month (Monday to Friday) to deliver meals during the months of March and August. Gateway Church delivers meals Monday through Friday during the first week of January.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Purchasing and delivering 5 to 7 wrapped gifts and cards from Gateway Church to residents at the Guardian Angels nursing home.
After the cards and gifts are prepared, they are to be dropped off at the Guardian Angels reception.
This position can be shared by multiple people.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to shop for gifts and cards. Must be able to wrap and deliver gifts.

TIME COMMITMENT: Gateway receives a list of names in the fall to cover all of the birthday recipients for one month. Deliver birthday gifts to the resident(s) once a year. Each commitment takes approximately 3 hours.

WHAT TO EXPECT: After you apply and your application has been reviewed, a staff member or ministry leader will reach out to you regarding next steps.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide a meal for someone in who had a baby, surgery, illness, loss, etc. (this meal could be homemade or from a local restaurant).
Deliver the meal to the address provided.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to drive.
Must be able to cook or pickup food for someone in need.

TIME COMMITMENT: Approximately 1-2 hours per opportunity

WHAT TO EXPECT: After you apply and your application has been reviewed, a staff member or ministry leader will reach out to you. When an individual or family needs a meal, you will receive an email and/or text. The email will redirect you to a website where you can see information about those you’ll be blessing. You can sign up for a time slot that fits your schedule from the link you’ll be sent.

GTWY KIDS

RESPONSIBILITIES: Each classroom has at least 1 teacher, 1 other adult helper, and 1 youth helper per service. Teacher will prepare and lead the Bible lesson. (Curriculum is provided by Gateway.) Teacher will provide direction for helpers on how to assist them in the classroom.

REQUIREMENTS: For this role, you need to be at least 18 years of age. Adults need to be background checked. Youth helpers are needed. Please see post titled “Youth Helper” for more information.

TIME COMMITMENT: Help out on a Sunday morning at least once a month. We ask that you commit to 9 months (school year) of serving, with optional summer availability. You will have an opportunity to provide availability or block out dates a month in advance. Some preparation time will be needed to lead the prekindergarten and elementary rooms.

WHAT TO EXPECT: After you apply and your application has been reviewed, a staff member or ministry leader will reach out to you regarding next steps.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Cover the check-in station, primarily interfacing with new families and visitors.
Take information from families and input into planning center check-ins. Welcome all families as they enter Gateway Kids.

REQUIREMENTS: Be welcoming and personable.
Be technologically confident to enter data into the computer. Be able to troubleshoot iPad stations, if necessary.

TIME COMMITMENT: Help out on a Sunday morning at least once a month. We ask that you commit to 6 months of serving, with an option to continue. You will have an opportunity to provide availability or block out dates a month in advance.

WHAT TO EXPECT: After you apply and your application has been reviewed, a staff member or ministry leader will reach out to you regarding next steps. Training and support will be provided.

RESPONSIBILITES: Welcome babies, toddlers and parents into the classroom. Engage with the babies by singing songs, sharing about God, playing, etc. Confirm instructions about feeding, changing needs, etc. Occasionally change a diaper or ask desk to notify a parent.

REQUIREMENTS: For this role, you need to be at least 18 years of age. Adults need to be background checked. Must be able to pick up and/or hold babies and toddlers. Youth helpers are needed. Please see post titled “Youth Helper” for more information.

TIME COMMITMENT: Help out on a Sunday morning at least once a month. We ask that you commit to 6 months of serving, with an option to continue. You will have an opportunity to provide availability or block out dates a month in advance.

WHAT TO EXPECT: After you apply and your application has been reviewed, a staff member or ministry leader will reach out to you regarding next steps.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Need helpers than can assist with care and bible classes for children birth to 5th grade.

REQUIREMENTS: Be at least 12 years old or a 6th grader. Be an active member of Gateway Student Ministry. Must have a desire to work with children.
Must be able to take direction and be a team player.

TIME COMMITMENT: Help out on a Sunday morning at least once a month. We ask that you commit to 9 months (school year) of serving, with optional summer availability. You will have an opportunity to provide availability or block out dates a month in advance.

WHAT TO EXPECT: After you apply and your application has been reviewed, a staff member or ministry leader will reach out to you regarding next steps.

GTWY STUDENTS

RESPONSIBILITIES: Within the team there are various opportunities: set-up, food service, small group leader, activities, security, teaching, etc. Must be able and willing to communicate with teens and adults. Will have the opportunity to engage youth in additional events such as retreats, mission trips, or other outings.

REQUIREMENTS: Must have a heart for teenagers, desiring to build relationships and trust. Be willing to work as a team. For this role, you need to be at least 18 years of age. Adults need to be background checked.

TIME COMMITMENT: Need to be available every Wednesday from 6:30-8:30. We ask that you commit to 9 months (school year) of serving, with optional summer availability.

WHAT TO EXPECT: After you apply and your application has been reviewed, a staff member or ministry leader will reach out to you regarding next steps. Once approved, you will be placed within the team according to strengths and skill set.

TECH

RESPONSIBILITIES: Follow along with and progress slides during worship. Follow along with and progress slides during sermon. Complete numerous media-related tasks as needed.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 13 years old. Ability to pay close attention and do repetitive tasks. Preferred: Some musical knowledge, particularly vocabulary (ex: verse, chorus, bridge, etc.).

TIME COMMITMENT: Depending on availability, as often as biweekly, as little as once a month.
Thursdays: 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Sundays: 7 AM – 12:30 PM
We ask that you commit to serving for 6 months with an opportunity to continue.

WHAT TO EXPECT: After you apply and your application has been reviewed, a staff member or ministry leader will reach out to you regarding next steps.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Mix sound using a digital sound board on for both Thursday worship practice and Sunday morning services. Troubleshoot any problems that come up. Help set up and/or do other tech-related tasks as needed.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 16 years old.
Ability to pay close attention and do repetitive, precise tasks. Ability to quickly and accurately troubleshoot issues. Preferred: Some musical knowledge, particularly vocabulary (ex: verse, chorus, bridge, etc.). Preferred: Be fully trained as a Screens Operator.

TIME COMMITMENT: Depending on availability, as often as biweekly, as little as once a month.
Thursdays: 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Sundays: 7 AM – 12:30 PM
We ask that you commit to serving for 6 months with an opportunity to continue.

WORSHIP

RESPONSIBILITIES: Sing on the worship team, helping to lead the congregation into deeper adoration and love for God. Participate in required rehearsals and service times as scheduled.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be 15 years old or older. Must have a demonstrated love for God. Must have clear indication of a humble and teachable spirit.

TIME COMMITMENT: Practice time outside of rehearsal and service times.
Thursday night rehearsal (6:30-8:00PM)
Sunday morning services (7:00 AM to 12:00PM)

WHAT TO EXPECT: After you apply and your application has been reviewed, a staff member or ministry leader will reach out to you regarding next steps. All vocalists and instrumentalists are subject to an audition process.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Use skills and musicianship to participate in the worship band on scheduled weekends. Continue to develop skills through personal practice and use of developmental tools provided by Gateway.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be 15 years old or older. Must have demonstrated a love for God. Must have a minimum level of instrumental proficiency so as to participate on the team with excellence.

TIME COMMITMENT: Personal practice of music outside of rehearsal times
Thursday night rehearsal (6:30-8:00PM)
Sunday morning services (7:00AM- 12:00PM)

WHAT TO EXPECT: After you apply and your application has been reviewed, a staff member or ministry leader will reach out to you regarding next steps. Instrumentalists and vocalists will be asked to audition prior to joining the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the congregation in weekend worship through music. Partner with staff and other volunteers to create worship sets. Run rehearsal times, including Thursday evenings and Sunday morning before service.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be 18 years of age or older
Must have evidence of a growing relationship with God. Must have served on the worship team a minimum of 6 months.

TIME COMMITMENT: Practice and prayerful preparation of songs for a given weekend.
6:00PM to 8:30PM on Thursday nights for rehearsal (rehearsal begins at 6:30)
7:00AM to 12:30PM on Sundays

REQUIREMENTS: Each individual wanting to volunteer will need to “Apply” above. (Unless you are a family wanting to host a trunk or treat vehicle together.) All middle and high schoolers wanting to volunteer can “Apply” above. They will be directed to Pastor Teresa who will get them set up at a station.

TIME COMMITMENT: Harvest Festival is from 3-6. Volunteer time commitments will vary. Set up will start at 12:30. Clean-up will start at 6.

WHAT TO EXPECT: After applying, you’ll receive an email from Jessica@gatewaychurchmn.com that will have more information. For all volunteers, plan to attend the Connect Night on Oct. 6 from 6:30-8pm. There will be a short meeting to go over volunteer details.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Share: Groups are meant to initiate conversations about God’s word that draw us closer to God and closer to other group members. Study: God’s word should be prioritized in the group.
Serve: Groups are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus, in and out of the church.
Support: Groups should create opportunities to foster encouragement through prayer, listening, meeting needs, challenging one another, and speaking encouraging words.

REQUIREMENTS: Believe in Jesus as your Lord and savior. Love people and seek for them to know and love Jesus. Commit to making time with Jesus a priority. Pray for the members of your group regularly, encouraging the other members to pray for each other. Make spiritual growth a number one priority in the Life Group. Use God’s word as the foundation for the group. Do life with the members of your group, celebrating life’s highs and lows.
Serve together as a group.

TIME COMMITMENT: Meet weekly (or biweekly) for 1-2 hours. Connect with your group members outside of that weekly meeting, as needed. Attend trainings, when offered by Gateway Church.

WHAT TO EXPECT: After you apply, a staff member or ministry leader will reach out to you regarding next steps and training.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Count offering, enter offering data into Planning Center computer software. The counting is done with 2 unrelated people at the church office within seven days of the scheduled offering.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be a Gateway Church member. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be comfortable on a computer. Must be trustworthy and able to keep giving information confidential. Must be approved by the Gateway Church leadership.

TIME COMMITMENT: There are 4 counting teams. For each team, we ask that you serve for approximately one hour per month.

WHAT TO EXPECT: After you apply and your application has been reviewed, a staff member or ministry leader will reach out to you regarding next steps. Training is provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Help with projects or maintenance around Gateway Church. Projects could include: painting, installation, replacing light bulbs, fixing, etc.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 18 years old.
Be able to use a hammer, drill, and fix various things.

TIME COMMITMENT: This would be on an as needed basis.

WHAT TO EXPECT: After you apply and your application has been reviewed, a staff member or ministry leader will reach out to you regarding next steps and training.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Cheerfully welcome everyone entering the church. Be watchful for visitors and introduce yourself. Introduce visitors to people you already know or to the pastoral staff. Inform visitors of free coffee and donut holes.

REQUIREMENTS: A desire to serve others of the church and those who attend as guests. Be able to engage in conversation – being genuine in your interest of visitors, regular attenders, and members.

TIME COMMITMENT: Volunteer one full Sunday once a month. Arrival time is 8:30 am until approximately 11:15 am. We ask that you commit to one year, starting with the school calendar.
